Bhatkal 21 July 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Residents of Moosa Nagar have been long facing the issue of stagnant rain water on the roads due to the lack of sewage and drainage system in the locality which falls under the Jali Patan Panchayath limits. The residents complained that walking on the roads remain difficult even after 2-4 hours of rain showers and only after some good sunshine the roads become communicable, especially for the pedestrians as vehicles plying on the road sprays the muddy waters onto the pedestrians. Bhatkallys.com took up the issue with both area Councillor Aftab Damudi and newly elected president of Jali Patan Panchayath Syed Aadam Panambur and sought their feedback on the poor conditions of drainage and sewage system in Moosa Nagar. Ward Councillor of Moosa Nagar Aftab Damudi, expressed his shock after looking at the pictures of stagnant water on the roads and claimed that nobody had brought this into his notice. Aftab said "I didn't know about this condition, nobody brought this into my notice, I will speak to the president and concerned staffs of Jali Patan Panchayath about this on Sunday and will look into finding some solution for this on priority". Jali Patan Panchayath President Syed Aadam, however admitted to the poor drainage and sewage conditions at Moosa Nagar and blamed the previous administration for misusing the funds received by the Panchayath while also blaming them for non development of Muslim dominated areas. Syed Aadam alleged "The funds were not managed fairly previously, there are places where there are 3-4 houses in some areas but the ward members there have constructed road and other facilities at the cost of 30-40 lac, whereas residential areas like Moosa Nagar are still facing these basic problems of drainage and sewage". "Its only two days since I have taken over the charge, and as I had said earlier, I will look into all these problems and my focus will be on areas where there have been no developmental work undertaken by the previous administration. We do not have funds for now, as soon as any fund by the government or other sources will be released for us I will take up the work in Moosa Nagar, I expect a little co-operation from the people of Moosa Nagar" Aadam added before concluding.
