Bhatkal: Mentally unstable man dies after train runs over him

Bhatkal 14 June 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A mentally unstable man on Wednesday committed suicide by laying his head on the railway track at Sodigadde near Sarpankatta of Bhatkal here on 14 June. The deceased has been identified as Radhakrishna Gonda(22), a resident of taland of Mutalli gram panchayat limits. The incident occurred when Radhakrishna on Wednesday afternoon laid his head on the railway track after which, a Mangaluru-Goa intercity express train ran over him, resulting in his death. Sources said that Radhakrishna was mentally unstable and was being treated at a psychiatric unit at Shivmogga. However for the past few years he was residing at his sister's place at Sarpankatta.
