Bhatkal: Memorandum submitted to DC, asking to withdraw underground drainage system works at Jali Patan Panchayath

Bhatkal 23 July 2017: A delegation representing ward No. 202 of Jali Patan Panchayath Bhatkal submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) asking him to withdraw the sanctioned contract of Underground Drainage system (UDS) from their ward. The memorandum cited Failure of UDS in many cities as the main reason for their protests.
The members of the delegation called the UDS harmful for locals, as the leakages and several other failures have been reported in other cities. The further questioned the huge amount of 202 crores that is sanctioned for the construction of UDS, as the failure of the system will lead to the wastage of the huge sum of amount.
The delegation also threatened the administration of further protests if their appeal is not met and the UDS contract is not withdrawn at the earliest. Jali Co-operative society President Ravi Naik, Jali Panchayath member Gannapa Gond, PLD Bank Director Manjunath Naik, Harish Naik, Ganapathy Naik, and several other people were present with the delegation.
