Bhatkal: Man who fed thousands of students for Rs. 5, Madhav Bhat no more

Bhatkal: Madhav Bhat, owner of the famous hotel of the town, Hotel Srinivas Deluxe died at the age of 61 on February 20, Tuesday.
Bhat was suffering from a spiteful condition of the throat since many years which worsened in last few days. Due to which, bhat was admitted at Yenepoya Hospital in Mangalore on Monday, but couldn't survive and breathed his last the next day.
His body was brought back to the hometown here and the funeral was performed next day. He is survived by his wife and a son.
Bhat is known to be a Good Samaritan. He fed the poor school kids with mid-day meal at a very low cost of Rs 5. Any school kid could walk into the hotel and have a delicious rice and sambar meal by paying just Rs 5. He embraced this mission 25 years back long before the introduction of government scheme of providing free mid day meal.
Bhat was an active member and served as the club PRO of the Rotary Club of Bhatkal.
