Bhatkal: August 17, 2020 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal Taluka Working Journalists Association today handed over a memorandum to the Chief Minister through Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner in which Kumta's MLA Dinakar Shetty's comments on journalists and the attacks in Bangalore were condemned. It may be recalled that Kumta's MLA Dinakar Shetty, while addressing a meeting yesterday, had accused the journalists of publishing news for money. Since then, there has been a wave of outrage in the journalistic community, which has demanded that the MLA withdraw the nasty words. On the other hand, in Bangalore, journalists were also affected by the protests that erupted after blasphemous remarks against the Holy Prophet (PBUH) on social media. Radha Krishna Bhatt, president of the association, said on the occasion that it was not right for a member of the Kamta assembly to make such a derogatory remark to journalists. He termed it as an attack on the honesty of journalists and said that it tarnishes the dignity of all journalists and raises questions on their honesty. Such words do not embellish a public representative. "Journalists are protected and respected everywhere. They always risk their lives to tell the truth to the people. If they are attacked, then it will be difficult for them to work in the society," he said. Radha Krishna Bhatt asked the Chief Minister to look into the two incidents and ensure the safety of journalists. President Radha Krishna Bhatt, Vice President Rizwan Gangavaly, Taluka President Bhaskar Naik, Secretary Mohan Naik, District Committee Member Fayyaz Mullah, Former President Raghuvendra Hebbar, Satish Kumar, Prasanna Bhatt, Adai Naik, Raghuvendra Mahale, Shahid Muktasar and others were present on the occasion.
