Bhatkal: Hindu outfits protests against cow-slaughtering, attempts to block NH 66

Bhatkallys News Bureau/ Rizwan Gangavali Bhatkal 02 Sept 2017: On the second day of Eid-ul-Adha several hindu organizations and outfits protested against the cow slaughtering in Bhatkal and tried to block the National highway as the sign of protest outside IB. When the police forced them out from the National highway and did not allow them to block it, the protestors headed to the Town police station and demanded immediate action from the department against the cow slaughtering that was taking place in Bhatkal swiftly even when the law is against cow slaughtering. The protestors also alleged the police department of supporting the Muslims and providing the security to them and not delivering their duties. Speaking to the media one of the Hindu leader expressed his anger on how swiftly the Muslim in the town have been carrying out the cow slaughtering on Eid despite the notification from the state government banning the cow slaughter and declaring it illegal. He further went on to demand immediate action from the police department to stop the cow slaughter or to allow them to deal with the situation ‘in their own way’ by taking the law into their hands. He also threatened of calling Bhatkal Bandh if the police didn’t take their demands seriously. Police on the other hand clarified that they at any cost will not tolerate anyone taking law into their hand or anyone trying to manhandle the situation will be lawfully arrested. The Police department also requested the Muslim community to celebrate the remaining part of their Eid peacefully and advised them not to react to any of the situation and to take support of the police department in dealing with situations.
