Bhatkal girl ranks second in UAE

Dubai - Aysha Siddiqua, a girl from Bhatkal residing in Dubai, has made the Bhatkalli community proud by ranking second overall in the UAE for the Grade 12 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exams. She missed out on the top rank by one mark as she scored 95.6 per cent in the arts stream - one mark short of the topper who scored 95.8 per cent. Her father, Azeem Chitargi (owner of Bhatkal Modern Printing Press) who has been working in the UAE for over a decade lauded his daughter's achievement and expressed happiness. For Aysha, it was a special moment as she was overjoyed to know her results. Being a school topper at the Indian High School in Dubai, Aysha's achievements have put her in the spotlight. "I was pleasantly surprised but I cannot say it was unexpected. I have always been achieving good results but this will be the best memory," said Aysha in an interview with Bhatkallys.com. She also shared her approach to studying was very regular and not last-minute preparations. Local universities in Dubai offer scholarships and subsidies to top achieves and Aysha is now expected to receive one for scoring above 95 per cent - the minimum requirement for an academic scholarship in UAE universities. Aysha now plans to take up a bachelor's course in psychology and pursue a career in related fields.
