Bhatkal: Fisheries department impose ban on using lights underwater for fishing

Bhatkallys News Service/Rizwan Gangavali Bhatkal 05 May 2017: Fisheries department today imposed ban on using of lights underwater during the course of deep waters fishing by local fishermen citing the degeneration caused by the method to some of species of the fishes. Local fishermen had been trying this method of trapping fishes for quite some time now of using motor lights with the traps for fishing which would kill fishes  after coming in contact with the electric motors of the lights. The department noted the degeneration of some species due to the usage of lights and waters and also considered complaints from the fishermen who are using the traditional method for fishermen.
