Bhatkal: Early morning lightning kills a pregnant woman

Bhatkallys News Bureau/ Rizwan Gangavali Bhatkal 15 May 2017: One woman, identified as Bibi Safia (22) a resident of Firdaus Nagar Bhatkal was killed when a lightning struck her house during the early hours of Monday while she was sleeping with her family. Amanullah Khan, father of the deceased added that due to the power disruption throughout the night, the family was sleeping in the balcony when suddenly the thinderstrom took over the calm climate and that was when the whole family went into the house and slept. He further added, at around 5.30 am a lightning struck the electricity pole nearby the home and made its way into the walls of the house through the electric service lines, as a result Safia who was sleeping by the walls of the house was killed. Sources also added that the deceased was a newlywed, who was married to a person from Shikaripur eight months back, and was expecting a child. She had come to her parental house just two days back due to pregnancy.
