Bhatkal: Dead body recovered from Belli river

Zaorez Shabab Bhatkal 12 Oct 2017: Bhatkal rural police after getting a call from the passerby informing about a dead body floating on the shores of Belli river in Bhatkal rushed to the spot on Wednesday 11 Oct. While investigating, police identified the deceased as Manjunath Tukaram (54), a resident of Sagar Taluka, who was residing in Sarpankatte area in Bhatkal along with his wife for last two years. While speaking to the Bhatkallys.com over the phone, Bhatkal rural police station confirmed it to be a accidental death and they have not come across anything suspicious or something that hints it to be a murder case during initial investigations. Police also said, Manjunath left his home to defecate at a nearby river and did not return for a long time, following which his body was recovered from Belli river. As per the police Manjuath was a heavy drinker of Alcohol and they suspect he might have slipped into the river following which he could not save himself as the water level of local rivers are on a high following high monsoon during last week. The body, after post-mortem was handed over to the family and a case has been registered at Bhatkal rural police station.
