Bhatkal: Dacoits takes elderly man as hostage with a sword on his neck, before escaping with cash

Bhatkal 21 Nov 2017: A dacoity case has been reported in Bhatkal today wherein an elderly person Lowna Salauddin, was taken hostage by the Dacoits, in his own home in the wee hours of Tuesday before escaping the scene with cash.
According to Saluddin Lowna, the dacoits entered the home at around 2.30 am from a door that was left unopened from the terrace; Salauddin was reportedly alone at his home with his wife staying at their daughter’s house owing to her health issues. Upon hearing the noise the 77 year old Salauddin woke up and found out it was dacoits. He alleged he was then grabbed from behind and one of the four dacoit held a sword on his neck to take him hostage.
He was then asked about the cash and gold stored in the house, when salauddin said there was no gold or cash in his house the repeatedly hit him on his back, he alleges.
The dacoits then tried to broke all the lockers and cupboards of the house and found at least 20,000/- worth cash before escaping the crime scene at around 4.30 am.
Salauddin alleges to have seen a white color four-wheeler in which they escaped. Owing to some of their acts during the crime, Salauddin told Bhatkallys.com that the dacoits were most probably Muslims.
The local police was informed in the morning when the family members reached the home. A forensic team along with dog squad visited the crime scene in the afternoon.
A case has been registered in Bhatkal Rural Police Station and further investigations are underway.
