Bhatkal: Constitution ensures equal rights, upholds national unity, says Tahsildar Nagendra Kolashetty

Bhatkal Jan 26: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Stating that the Constitution not only guarantees equal rights to every citizen but also entrusts them with the responsibility of safeguarding national unity, integrity and social justice, Bhatkal Tahsildar Nagendra Kolashetty said the strength of the country lies in these constitutional values.
He was speaking after unfurling the national flag at the taluk-level 77th Republic Day celebrations held on Monday at the YMSA Taluk Sports Ground in Nawayath Colony, Bhatkal.
Recalling the adoption of the Constitution on January 26, 1950, Kolashetty said India emerged as a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic on that historic day. He credited Dr B R Ambedkar’s vision and social commitment for laying a strong foundation for the country’s governance system, adding that the principles of justice, liberty and equality continue to guide India’s progress.
Speaking about the functioning of the taluk administration, he said it acts as a vital link between the government and the people. He highlighted initiatives such as computerisation of land records, simplification of pahani correction procedures, transparent implementation of social security schemes and priority to infrastructure development. He also urged the youth to adopt discipline, integrity and patriotism in their lives.
During the programme, three students from the taluk who secured the highest marks in the 2024–25 SSLC examinations were honoured with cheques of Rs 50,000 each. Individuals who had excelled in various fields were also felicitated.
An impressive march-past by police personnel and students from schools and colleges added colour to the celebrations.
Taluk Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Venkatesh Navadu, CPI Diwakar, Jali Town Panchayat President Afsha Kazia, Vice-President Syed Imran Lanka, Guarantee Schemes Committee President Raju Manjappa Naik, Government Employees’ Association President M N Naik, Block Education Officer Venkatesh Nayak and officials from various departments were present.
Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Sunil M welcomed the gathering, while teacher Shridhar Shet compered the programme.
