September 24, 2015 | Correspondent | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: Eid-ul-Adha was celebrated across Bhatkal with traditional fervour and gaiety on Thursday. Thousands of Muslims thronged the eidgah to offer prayers led by Maulana Irshad Naite Nadvi. The Eid sermon highlighted the significance of Eid Al Adha and the importance of sacrifice. The maulana apprised the worshipers to recall the golden days of Islam where sacrifices for the sake of religion were common. A community can be successful only through sacrifices, he stressed. He urged the musallis to perform the sacrifice with the sole intention of pleasing Almighty Allaah and not to show-off as only sincere and pure sacrifice reaches Allaah. After the prayers, the musallis (worshipers) greeted ‘Eid Mubarak’ by hugging each other and sacrificed animals to commemorate willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) to sacrifice his only son, Ismael, as an act of obedience to Allah. Hundreds of Muslims, led by Maulana Abdul Aleem Qasmi, took out peaceful procession to Eidgah ahead of the prayers. The procession commenced from Khaleefah Jamia Masjid at 7 am and passing through Chowk Bazar, Mohammed Ali Road, and Main Road, concluded at Eidgah. Meanwhile, security was beefed up in the areas where Masjids are located, particularly near Eidgah. Eid al-Abha is one of the two most important Islamic festivals, and is known as the Feast of the Sacrifice, as it recalls Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah. To mark this, Muslims all over the world sacrifice an animal on that day. - ARF
