Bhatkal back to normal after tense few hours as Hindu youngster demand construction of Temple next to Mosque

Bhatkal 18 October 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Members and executive members of the Asarkeri temple of Bhatkal, made attempts to construct a boundary compound at a revenue land at Dongar Palli locality of Bhatkal using JCB machines, which triggered tension across the locality for sometime before police personnel took charge of the situation to bring the situation under control.
According to TMC President Sadiq Matta, who was in the middle of the things at the spot, a plot belonging to the revenue department near a mosque in Dongar Palli, has long been vacant, and several individuals and organizations have over the years sought the possession of the land from the government for various personal and organizational use.
“About four to five months back, the temple authorities had also sought the possession of the land from the government for constructing a temple on the said land, the proposal is still unanswered and it pending from the government side. However on Thursday, a group of men representing the temple authorities gathered at the spot and started constructing compound wall” Sadiq said.
“Local youngsters informed the local authorities and police department who rushed to the spot and barred them from continuing the construction work” he adds.
When asked about the sensitivity of case Sadiq said “As the election nears these activities are ought take place, the will always try to trigger communal factor ahead of elections, but I am happy with the way our youngsters reacted and didn’t take law into their hands and sticked by the law”.
TMC President Sadiq Matta, along with Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner (AC) Sajid Ahmed Mulla, PSI Kusumadhara and others was present at the spot.
