Bhatkal August 14 murder case solved: 8 arrested

Bhatkal, Aug 24 2020 (Bhatkallys News Beareau) A man was killed in a feud in Benandoor of Bhatkal taluka on Friday, August 14, after which police registered a case against 13 people and launched an investigation. Later today, while resolving the matter, 8 persons led by ASP Nikhil Bilavar were arrested. The arrested peoples have been identified as Jayant Naik (31), Manjunath Naik (37), Devendra Naik (27), Subramania Naik (24), Balender Naik (63), Suresh Naik (27), Mahesh Naik (28) and Sunil Naik. (23), all of them belong to Benandoor. It may be recalled that the deceased Padmayya Naik was returning home after supplying milk to a dairy in Shiroor on Friday, August 14 at around 3 pm when 20-22 people surrounded him and attacked him, injuring her severely. However, he could not recover even after being taken to the hospital. Initial investigations revealed that a case had been registered at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station in July over a land dispute. Due to this, some people became mortal enemies of the slain Padmayya Jattapta Naik. Following the case, three teams were formed under the supervision of Bhatkal Assistant Superintendent of Police Nikhal B, one in Gokak, Belgaum, the other in Kolhapur, Maharashtra and the third in Bhatkal.
