Bhatkal: Another case of theft reported; gold worth 7 lac Rs. robbed from a house in Hanifabad

Bhatkal 30 Nov 2017: The growing number of cases of robbery in town has created a sense of fear in the locals who are now hesitant to lock their homes even to go out for an hour or two, as the recent cases of thefts in the town has left everyone worrying, wherein houses which were locked for a few hours were robbed off.
A similar incident was reported today at Hanifabad, wherein a house was robbed off for over 320 gms of gold, approximately worth of Rs. 7 lac, on Thursday evening, when all the members of the home were out on a family visit to a relative's home.
According to a neighbor, at around 8.00 pm he saw a young man inside the house from the window and initially thought it must be someone who had come with the permission of the house owners. When suddenly the lights of the house went off, he grew suspicion over the presence of the person inside the house, and he then alerted other neighbors about what he had seen.
By the time he could gather a few neighbors the person inside the house had escaped. The neighbor claims that he know the young lad who was inside the home, and alleged that it was one of the youngster of the locality, who came to the crime scene after a while and joined other people and started inquiring about the incident when the news of theft started spreading.
When the house owners who were informed about the crime on Phone arrived, they found the main door broke opened, and all the gold ornaments from the cupboards missing.
The locals then confronted the youngster, and told him to confess to the crime if he had committed it and that he will be spared by the family, the youngster straightaway denied all the allegations and said he came to know about the incident, only after people started gathering at the house.
House owner Saifullah Ekkeri, informed Bhatkallys.com that the members of the family had gone for a family gathering at a relative's house, just a few minutes away from their home, when the incident took place.
Bhatkal Rural Police arrived at the crime scene, and started investigating the matter, and subsequently the name of the youngster was revealed to the police, police officials said they will only question him when the initial investigation is over.
According to the reports, the dog squad of the police department was on its way from Karwar.
A case has been registered at Bhatkal Rural Police Station, and further investigations are underway.
