Bhatkal: Another AITM staff receives Ph.D in civil engineering from VTU

Bhatkal 1 Aug 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Prof. Phalachandra HM, HOD of Civil Engineering and Vice Principal of Anjuman Institute of Technology and Management (AITM), became the latest AITM staff to receive Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) for his work and research. Phalachandra was awarded Ph.D by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in Civil Engineering for his Thesis, titled "Role of moulding water content on the strength behavior of shedi soil in presence of industrial wastes and other additives" under the guidance and supervision of Dr. H S Nanda Principal BTI Bengaluru and Dr H N Ramesh Principal UVCE Bengaluru. Prof. Phalachandra has been working in the department of civil engineering at AITM for over 25 years now, and is currently the HOD of civil department and the vice-principal of the institution. He has also earned a reputation for himself as a renowned consultant for civil and structural engineering throughout Uttara Kannada and neighboring districts. With his award, AITM now has a total of seven Professors with Doctorate degrees, Anjuman has initiated incentives and concessions to encourage it’s teaching staff to acquire higher qualifications such as B.Ed, M.Com, MA, M.Sc  (Engineering), and Ph.D  Engineering, Anjuman has also been able to retain these faculty members who acquire higher qualifications by offering them suitable rewards and remuneration.
