Bhatkal: AITM gets gift worth Rs. 15 lakh from car making giant BMW

Bhatkal 12 November 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen Bhatkal's Anjuman Institute of Technology and Management (AITM) has secured a gift worth Rs. 15 lakh from the car making giant Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW).
AITM Principal, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Bavikatti, while speaking to Bhatkallys.com announced that AITM has received a 2 liter BMW car engine free of cost from the company which will now be used for the over-all development and understanding of the new and modern technology engines for the students, the engine will be kept in Mechanical Department's lab under the supervision of Mechanical HOD.
The engine received by AITM is mainly used in 3 series and 5 series vehicles of BMW and is used in 6 different vehicles produced by the company.
AITM applied for the engine after BMW in August announced that it will gift more than 350 engines to the engineering colleges across the country, following which AITM was shortlisted and the engine was delivered to the college on November 9.
The initiative by the BMW was part of its 11th anniversary celebration of the Chennai plant, which also saw the company launch ‘SKILL NEXT»’, a technical skilling initiative.

"Aiming to act as a major catalyst in developing automotive talent in the country, ‘SKILL NEXT»’ will reach educational institutes and students in every state and union territory in India. Through the initiative, 365 BMW engine and transmission units will be provided for learning purposes to engineering and technical institutes at no cost. ‘SKILL NEXT»’ will present an opportunity for engineering and technical students to get hands-on training on advanced technologies of BMW engine and transmission" BMW in a press release issued earlier said.
Mr. Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “The luxury automotive segment in India has witnessed tremendous growth in the last decade and with the growing number of cars on road, there is a high requirement of good technical talent in the industry. ‘SKILL NEXT»’, will strongly promote the development of technical competencies in students across the country by enhancing their practical knowledge of advanced automotive technology. This initiative will also contribute in increasing the availability of skilled technical staff required at automotive dealerships in India.”
Mushtaq Ahmed Bavikatti, also expressed his delight on the occasion and thanked BMW Group for the gesture and hoped that the students will stand benefited by it. He also thanked the Anjuman management for the continuous support to the college.
