Bhatkal: ABVP protests against lecturers wearing Burqa in Govt. College

Bhatkallys New Service/Rizwan Gangavali Bhatkal 21 February 2017: ABVP a student’s wing of BJP today staged a protest here in Govt. A grade degree college Bhatkal against a few Muslim Lecturers, objecting against them wearing Burqa into the college premises and demonstrated their agitation by wearing their signature saffron shawls. Sirsi, Shimoga had in recent past similar protests after an statement by Karwar MP Ananth Kumar Hegde supporting those who protest Burqa by wearing the saffron shawl. Bhatkal is the latest victim of miscreants trying to disrupt the peaceful environment of the town by such activities. Principal of Govt. Degree College, Dr. Bhagirathi spoke to the media and clarified that there is no uniform code for lecturers by the college or the universities, while the students have their own set of uniform. She also said, she will put forth a report ahead of the Management about the protest.
