The initial inquiry indicated differences between Roopa Tambad (32) and the inspector, who had recently filed a report against her in connection with a case she is investigating.

Ms. Tambad was taken to a hospital in Rajajinagar.

She is said to be out of danger, but will be kept under observation for the next two days. K.S.R. Charan Reddy, Additional Commissioner of Police (West), said the police have launched an investigation into the matter.

“We will be looking into the reasons that led her to take the step,” he said. This month has seen two police officers in other parts of the State end their lives.
