Bengaluru-Mangaluru special train extended to Karwar

South Western Railway (SWR) on Friday decided to extend the proposed Yeshwanthpur-Mangaluru Junction-Yelahanka Suvidha Dasara Special Express via Shravanabelagola and Hassan to Karwar owing to popular demand. With this extension, two more trips will be operated between Bengaluru and Karwar as Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd., (KRCL) expressed its inability to stable the empty rake at Karwar from October 5 to October 8 (Saturday to Tuesday), sources in SWR said. While Bengaluru-Karwar services are now available on Friday and Monday, Karwar-Bengaluru services are available on Saturday and Tuesday. Train 82655 Yeshwanthpur-Karwar Suvidha Special will leave Yeshwanthpur at 10.20 p.m. on October 4 and reach Mangaluru Junction at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday. It will depart Mangaluru Junction at 8.50 a.m. to reach Karwar at 2.30 p.m. halting at Mulki, Udupi, Kundapur, Byndoor, Bhatkal, Murdeshwar, Honnavar, Kumta, Gokarna Road, and Ankola. It will leave Karwar at 5 p.m. as Train 82666 Karwar-Yelahanka Suvidha Special on October 5 to reach Mangaluru Junction at 9.50 p.m. and leave at 10.15 p.m. to reach Yelahanka at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Train 82665 Bengaluru City-Karwar Suvidha Special Express will leave Bengaluru at 11.55 p.m. on October 7 to reach Mangaluru Junction at 9.50 a.m. on Wednesday. It will depart Mangaluru Junction at 10.10 a.m. to reach Karwar at 3 p.m. In the return trip, Train 82656 Karwar-Yelahanka Suvidha Special will leave Karwar at 5 p.m. on October 8 to reach Mangaluru Junction at 9.50 p.m. It will Mangaluru Junction at 10.15 p.m. to reach Yelahanka at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. The train will comprise one 3-Tier AC coach, 12 second class sleeper coaches and two luggage-cum-brake vans. Advance reservation for the services has already started. Rail fans as well as Shobha Karandlaje, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP, had urged SWR and Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd., to extend the services to Karwar to help many passengers along the coast.
