Belthangady man linked to advocate Naushad Kashimji murder arrested by Mangaluru police

Mangaluru: Police have arrested a man from Belthangady who had been missing for a long time in several criminal cases, including the murder of advocate Naushad Kashimji. The arrest was made by a team led by the ACP of the Mangaluru North subdivision. The accused is T Dinesh Shetty, also known as Dinnu, a resident of Hosamane in Belthangady taluk.
Dinesh Shetty had earlier been convicted for his involvement in the 2009 murder of advocate Naushad Kashimji and was sentenced to life imprisonment. According to police records, the killing was carried out after he allegedly received a supari from underworld operative Ravi Poojari and gangster Kali Yogish. He spent 11 years in jail before being released in 2019 after an appeal before the Karnataka High Court.
Following his release, he was named in more cases. These included an abduction case under Kavoor Police Station limits, and cheating and extortion cases registered under Mangaluru North Police Station limits.
For the past one and a half years, he had stopped appearing before the court and was absconding. Police tracked him down and arrested him on Tuesday.
