Bank robbery in Honnavar; 47 lakh stolen

Honnavar - 20 July 2012: A bank robbery was reported from KDCC bank in Honnavar wherein the robbers escaped with jewellery and cash worth rupees 47 lakh. According to the sources, the thieves entered the bank premise through window and broke open the locker with the help of electronic machines and escaped with cash and jewellery. It is believed that it is the handiwork of some insiders. It may be noted that, there was no security guard and CCTV cameras installed in the bank which led the robbers to do their work easily. A case has been registered at Honnavar police station and a special Dog squad and finger-print experts are invited to assist in the investigation process.
