Ban on New Year's celebrations in Uttar Kannada

Karwar: December 30, 2020 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) New Year's Eve will not be celebrated on the beaches and in public places in Uttar Kannada district this year as this time the district administration has taken stringent measures to prevent Covid infection.  Prohibition orders under section 144 have been imposed on public places including all beaches of the district from 31 December 4 pm to January 1, 6pm.

According to the district administration, restraining orders will remain in force on beaches, historical sites and public places in the coastal strip of Uttar Kannada district, including Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar and Bhatkal.  Therefore, group gatherings will be banned anywhere during this period and no celebrations will be held.

The administration has also warned of legal conciquences for violating it.
