Fourth Force — a startup specialising in background verification of employees to the corporate, banking and retail sector — launched its Bengaluru chapter recently. A venture by retired police officials, the pan-India organisation claims the capability to conduct physical verification of every application, apart from web-based screenings. Kassim Saleem Ali, chairman and CMD of Fourth Force and former Special Director of CBI, said a thorough background verification prior to placement should be part of the culture for a safe workplace and society. “Seven out of 100 people will have some kind of criminal background. Employing persons with such a background can weaken the corporate world and companies could end up with adverse publicity and monetary losses,” he added. The Chennai-based screening verification agency began operations three months ago with offices across the country manned by territorial officers under whom field officers will carry out physical verifications on the candidates in various areas, including place of residence, previous employments and primarily, criminal background.
