Bhatkal 19 November 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Officials of Heble Gram Panchayath, after missing the earlier given schedule of November first week for starting door-door collection of garbage have now come up with claims that they have been waiting for the approvals from Zilla Panchayath and that they are ready from their end.
Residents of Heble Gram Panchayath Limits, have been battling with garbage dumping issues over the years, with time and again local media houses reminding the authorities of the poor conditions the residents are living in, but to no avail, as the authorities were left scratching heads when asked for permanent solution, and the residents would find relief after every temporary cleaning drives.
After years of work by social workers, local media houses and activists, the authorities finally have a permanent solution in their sight as the local Panchayath officials have leased a plot to convert it into a dump yard, much to the relief of residents who are living by the man-made dump yards beside the main roads in the Panchayath limits, which have also led to residents especially children face threats of their health and several diseases.
But it seems the residents will have to wait a few more weeks before relieving in joy, after the Panchayath starts collecting garbage, as the Panchayath which claim it is ready from their end is yet to secure approval from the Zilla Panchayath to begin the collection, while sanctioning of two staffs for the job is also pending with Zilla Panchayath which requires clearance before beginning the collection.
Speaking to Bhatkallys.com Syed Ali Maliki, a Councillor of Heble Panchayath added that the Panchayath is ready with the vehicle and other related stuff and is waiting for the approval and sanctioning of staffs by the Zilla Panchayath.
Meanwhile, after a clean-up drive a couple of months back the roads and at different parts of the Panchayath limit had once again been turned into dump-yards, which now once again have been cleaned on Friday by the Panchayath officials, which Syed Ali hopes to be the last clean-up drive as it will not continue after beginning the collection of garbage.
