Passengers using Bengaluru City Railway Station will no longer have to stand in long queues for unreserved tickets. On Thursday, 10 automatic vending machines were inaugurated. Passengers can use smart cards to get tickets from these machines. In addition to the machines, 20 mobile phone charging stations have been put up in various platforms and the main concourse. “More machines will be installed soon. We want the experience of visiting the station to be an enjoyable one. Last month, we also started work on a museum, which will be completed soon,” said Sanjiv Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Bengaluru. The station already has a mini museum which highlights development of the station through the past few decades. The new museum, once complete, will have scale models of engines from the time of the launch of the first steam locomotive. In September, a digital token display system was launched for better management of queues of people waiting to reserve tickets. -The Hindu
