Asked to vacate flat, drunk man attacks landlord in UAE

A man stood trial before the Sharjah Criminal Court, for assaulting and insulting a security guard after refusing to comply with eviction notice. The victim said in his testimony that he got orders from the landlord to accompany the eviction team to the accused’s apartment, Emarat Al Youm reported. He said that the Arab man was allegedly drunk when they asked him to leave the apartment. He told them that he needs ten minutes to get his things and leave. Later, the accused refused to leave and assaulted the security guard and the landlord. This prompted the victim to call the police. The accused was brought to the prosecutor's office and the court to complete the legal proceedings against him. The defendant denied the charges against him. The court postponed the case till April 30 to summon the prosecution witness and the landlord to hear their statements. Source: Khaleej Times
