Asiad relay gold medalist Poovamma dedicates medal to people of Kodagu

Kodagu: M R Poovamma, who is part of India's 4 x 400 relay team that won the gold at the Asian Games in Jakarta, has dedicated her medal to the people of her hometown, Kodagu. "My people have lost everything and they are distressed. I want to dedicate the medal that I won at the Asian Games to the displaced people of Kodagu," she said adding that she was thankful for the support of her family and coach. Some of Poovamma's relatives are among those people who have lost almost everything in the landslides that ravaged the district. The athlete has also offered to help them in any way that she can.
