If rumours are to believed, the next generation iPads might make their way as soon as April. According to a report by iMore, Apple is expected to release the 5th generation iPad and the next generation iPad Mini in April, while it's planning to unveil the next generation iPhone, iPhone 5S, in August.
The report cites sources to further add that the iPhone 5S would have the same basic design as the iPhone 5, but would be powered by a more advanced processor and sport an improved camera. So the upgrade would be a minor one, in line with the previous 'S' variants of the iPhone.
The report also notes that it's unlikely that the next generation iPad mini would feature a Retina display as Apple doesn't usually release iPads that cost more than the existing ones or have an inferior battery life compared to the current models.
Just a day back, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had claimed in his new research report that Apple was expected to unveil the iPhone 5S and a lower-cost iPhone along with iOS 7 in June, with devices launching in July. He predicted that the iPhone 5S will be powered by the faster A7 processor, and the camera will feature a smart flash which will have white or yellow light depending on the ambient light conditions, and a fingerprint reader under the Home button for security. He also mentioned that the low-cost version of the iPhone 5 will have a hybrid casing of fiberglass and plastic making it lighter and slimmer compared to a plastic casing and for making it available in different colours.
The analyst has a good track record when it comes to predicting Apple product launches. Both these rumours suggest an early launch for the next generation iPhone, compared to the last two launches which took place in September-October.
