Another milestone: Sachin completes 15,000 Test runs

New Delhi - 08 Nov 2011 (Agencies): The Master Blaster crossed another landmark, completed 15,000 Test runs during the first Test against West Indies in New Delhi. Sachin Tendulkar is on the verge of a number that is as mind-boggling as Don Bradman's average. To understand the significance of 100 international hundreds, take a look at the competition. After Tendulkar's 99 tons, Ricky Ponting is a distant second with 69, followed by Jacques Kallis with 57.

It was in Kotla nearly six years ago that Tendulkar scored his 35th Test century, against Sri Lanka, to go past Sunil Gavaskar's record of 34 Test hundreds.

As for the Indian team, the three-match series gains significance as it will not only give them an opportunity to erase the painful memories of the 0-4 debacle at the Old Blighty, where they meekly surrendered the number one status to England, but will also give the players a chance to prepare for the tough upcoming tour of Australia.

India is now at 148/2 from 43 overs with Sachin Tendulkar at 33(87) and Rahul Dravid at 30(91) holding the fort against the Windies.
