Another fisherman dies of drowning at Bhatkal port

Bhatkal 6 April 2019:(Bhatkallys News Bureau) A fisherman hailing from Orissa who was working at Bhatkal port died on Friday after slipping into water while he was jumping from one boat to another here. The deceased has been identified as Umesh Chandrahat, a resident of Orissa. Umesh was working as a fisherman in ‘Pavan Jyothi’, a fishing boat in Bhatkal. However, when the victim was jumping from one boat to another boat anchored at the port, he fell into the waters. Unable to swim back he started drowning. Local fisherman who noticed Umesh getting drowned in water tried to help him and later pulled him out from there. But Umersh died while he was rushed to a local hospital. Bhatkal rural police were subsequently informed about the incident and the body of Umesh was shifted to Taluka hospital of Bhtakal for post mortem. The fellow fishermen informed the rural police and has been shifted to Government hospital for post mortem. (Bhatkallys News Bureau)
