RIYADH: The Ministry of Labor announced on Sunday the opening of a new online service beginning next week to help dependents of expatriates find employment in private schools throughout the Kingdom. Sami Al-Hammoud, undersecretary for planning and development at the Ministry of Labor, said the new program is being introduced in cooperation with the Takamul Project Management Company through the website www.ajeer.com.sa Al-Hammoud further explained that this new arrangement is allowed only for one dependent from each family and he or she should not be over 18 years of age and hold a valid iqama. The prospective applicants should also possess a letter of competency from the Ministry of Education to teach in schools. Successful candidates will be given a certificate of employment in one of the schools while the employers will have to pay SR1,500 for such document. This program includes only private and private international schools of both sexes. The official also clarified that the employment certificate issued by the Labor Ministry will be valid for one year, that can be renewed annually. “There is no transfer of sponsorship under this program and the dependent will remain under their respective sponsors,” Al-Hammoud said. The certificate of employment is a legal document for the dependents to work in the Kingdom, the official said, adding that in case of employment termination, they will not be repatriated. Schools interested in employing these dependents should be compatible under Nitaqat. They should be in platinum, green-high and medium zones under the Saudization program. Arab News
