AIMPLB leader Abdul Quraishi passes away

HYDERABAD: Moulana Mohd Abdul Raheem Qureshi, president of All India Majlise Tameer-e-Millat and secretary, All India Muslim Personal Law Board, passed away here on Thursday morning. He was 81. He was ailing for the last couple of months and admitted to a hospital. He is survived by wife, sons and daughters. The Namaz-e-Janaza was offered at Makkah Masjid after ‘Asr’ prayers and the body was laid to rest at Osman Shahi graveyard at Afzalgunj. An eminent Islamic scholar and advocate, Qureshi played a key role in handling of the Babri Masjid demolition case. Qureshi’s book “Facts of Ayodhya episode - myth of Ram Janamabhoomi’ was released recently. He also guided the community as president of Muslim United Forum, and convener of United Action Committee, an umbrella body comprising different Muslims organisations. As the news of his death spread, a large number of people made a beeline to his house. Important among those who paid their respects were deputy chief minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi.   Agencies
