Bhatkal 19 January 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Babri Masjid Action Committee co-convener and Welfare Party of India (WPI), National President Qasim Rasool Ilyas, on Saturday visited Bhatkal and addressed a public gathering here at Nawayath colony in the evening.
Along with Qasim, WPI state vice-president Tajuddin was also present during the event which was themed 'Parliamentary elections and our responsibilities' and was presided over by Abdul Jabbar Asadi, WPI Uttara Kannada district President.
Speaking at the event Tajuddin, introduced the vision and mission of Welfare Party of India, and added that the party only indulges in value based politics and that there is a need for such political outfits in the current scenario of the country.
Qasim Rasool Ilyas, stressed upon the need of unity among the minorities of India, and added that Muslims were the king makers in Indian politics, but lately have lost that tag due to political and educational backwardness of the Muslim youth.
"We should take lessons from how Yadav's formed a political party in UP with only 7% of total population, and then gathered support from other minorities to form government, not just once but thrice, it is the will to rule that defines you in politics. Merely wanting to contribute in politics will not take us anywhere, we need to have the will to rule" Qasim Rasool added.
"People who think politics is dirty and is not permissible in Islam, are absolutely wrong, if it was not permissible, Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) wouldn't have become the ruler of Madinah, Abubaker Siddique, Umar, Usman and Ali wouldn't have become the Khulafa. Islam also teaches politics and it is very much part of it" Qasim Rasool further added.
Qasim Rasool also announced that the party will contest the upcoming general elections on three Lok Sabha seats across the country and sought the support from people. He also announced that he will field himself from the Jangipur, where he will contest against Abhijit Mukherjee, son of former president of India Pranab Mukherjee and hoped to enter mainstream politics and to communicate the 'voice of people of India' in the parliament.
Abdul Jabbar Asadi, Showkat Khateeb, Syed Hassan Barmawar, Anam Ala, Abdul Aleem Qasmi and other were present on the dias during the event.
