Advocate goes absconding after woman alleges rape

Mangaluru: A woman has filed a complaint against city-based advocate alleging rape after promising marriage.
The woman has named Mohammed Ismail, a resident of Surthkal in her complaint filed with Mangaluru Women's Police Station.
As per the complaint, the woman got acquainted with Ismail after she approached him seeking legal advice in connection with her divorce. The victim's marital life had ended within three months of her marriage back in 2017 and her husband was delaying paying the compensation.
The advocate, she alleged befriended her during the time she visited his office and made sexual advances towards her after promising marriage. On July 20, when she visited the advocate's office, he was engaged in a sexual act with another woman. When the woman questioned him, he thrashed her thus injuring her.
According to the sources, after the woman filed a police complaint, advocate has gone missing.
