AC sets 10th June deadline for Lucky Factory owner to clean-up the mess

6th June 2013 / Rizwan Gangavaly / Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: A meeting was held today at the AC's court between the Assistant Commissioner, Lucky Factory owner and angry residents of Gulmi to discuss the issue of water contamination caused by waste products of the factory. The angry residents expressed that although the factory exists on this site since many years they did not had any complaint on it prior to this, but, since the factory started the manufacturing of  products made from coconut the discarded waste is thrown there and the chemicals from them leak into the ground thereby contamination the nearby wells. They also clarified that their objection is not because the owner is a Muslim but because of the troubles faced by them. Explaining on this matter, the factory owner Maulvi Altaf mentioned that they are dumping the waste products in a pit and from there the chemicals leak into the ground thereby contamination the wells. He however assured that he will himself get the wells cleansed, complete the concretisation of the place and henceforth dump the waste-products in a suitable remote location. In the end, the Assistant Commissioner instructed Maulvi Altaf to get the factory area cleaned and to complete the concretisation of the factory area by 10th of this month. noodles-factory-2 noodles-factory-4
