Bhatkal/ Delhi 13 October 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Abdul Wahed Siddibapa who was arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2016, for his alleged Indian Mujahideen (IM) links and his involvement in terror and anti-national activities, will secure bail on November 1, his lawyers from Delhi hoped in an exclusively interview over a call on Saturday, October 13.
Abdul Wahed worked in Dubai, and was arrested on May 2016 and NIA booked a case against him in 2012. He had accusations that he is the relative of alleged terrorist Ajmed Siddibapa alias Yaseen Bhatkal and Riyaz Bhatkal.
Speaking to Bhatkallys.com over phone call, Abdul Wahed's lawyer Khan said "There is nothing against Wahed, he is clean and the NIA too has failed to prove his IM connections. They have also got statement of the person through whom Wahed had been sending money through 'Hawala' but they had nothing to prove that he sent money to anybody other than his wife, it was his wife that he was sending money through Hawala, according to the statement of the Hawala agent and NIA has nowhere listed Wahed's wife as the accused or channel of funding to the IM".
"Merely being a relative of some alleged terrorist doesn't mean he too is a terrorist" Khan further added.
Another advocate Abubaker Sabaq, National convener of Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) who is also part of the legal team handling the matter also spoke to Bhatkallys.com over phone call.
Sabaq said "Prima facie the NIA has failed to prove any of the allegations labelled against Wahed in the court, they could not prove his involvement in any anti-social, anti-national activities so the order is reserved for November 1, and we are completely expecting his release on the basis of lack of evidence".
Abdul Wahed is currently lodged in Tihar jail of Delhi.
