Abdul Samad Siddibapa's family files defamation case against Kannada newspaper

Bhatkal - Abdul Samad Siddibapa's family has filed a defamation case against a Kannada newspaper which simultaneously publishes from Bangalore Kumta and Shimoga on the charges of publishing Abdul Samad's photograph in place of Yaseen Ahmed in its front page.
It may be recalled that, on 16th December 2010, Govt of India has released a list of 31 terror suspects including three from Bhatkal. The newspaper has made this news as its prime story and published the photographs of Riyaz, Iqbal and Abdul Samad instead of Yaseen Ahmed. Abdul Samad's photograph in the newspaper brought widespread anxiety among Bhatkali community and the family has decided to fight legal battle against newspaper.
According to the sources, acting on the complaint, courst has issued a show cause notice to its editor. Abdul Samad's Uncle Mr Mohammed Ali Siddibapa while speaking to bhatkallys.com said the reporter of that newspaper has requested him to withdraw case against the newspaper. Meanwhile reports of newspaper's chief editor trying to schedule meeting with Abdul Samad's family is also making rounds.
