Aashika's husband booked for murder and dowry harassment

8th June 2013 / Rizwan Gangavaly / Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: Two days after Aashika committed suicide in suspicious circumstances at Subhash Nagar locality in Jaali Road, Bhatkal police have filed a case against her husband Yaseen Khan for the alleged murder and harassment of his wife. Victim's sister Ayesha alleged that dowry demands were responsible for her sister's death. She alleged that Yaseen, on numerous occasions before, harassed Aashika for money/gold and beat her when he did not receive. Apart from the victim's sister, their neighbour Qamruddin Malbari has also given a statement against Yaseen. Bhatkal police have registered a case of dowry murder under Section 302 of IPC against Yaseen. Additional SP Subhash Gudmanne arrived in Bhatkal today to investigate this case and inspected the victim's house and the well in which Aashika allegedly committed suicide.
