A show of camaraderie at BJM-Mangaluru's Get-Together

MANGALORE -- The Bhatkali Jamatul Muslimeen, Mangalore's annual general body meeting & Family Get Together held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the scenic Boat club on the banks of idyllic Gurupur river at Sultan Battery, Mangalore received enthusiastic response from Bhatkalis based in the port city.

The formal session (AGB Meet) got off with a beautiful rendition of qiraat by Ismail Mohammed Ashfaque Akrama at 11am followed by its English translation by Abdurrahman Aftab Kola. Moulana Saalim Khalifa appealed to the people to associate with the Jamat activities. Speaking about the upcoming plans SM Arshad, president of BJM, said the Jamat has set up a Business and Investment Guidance Cell especially to help Gulf returnees. Imtiaz Damda, general secretary, BJM, read out the year-long report while SM Ashfaque, internal auditor, presented the accounts. Talha Akrami, secretary, proposed a vote of thanks. Jan Abdurrahman Mohtesham, former president of BJM, also spoke on the occasion. Bhatkal students from Iqra Arabic School for Boys, Mangalore recited a beautiful Navayathi nazm. Aftab Kola, coordinator for the event, compered. After the formal session, Open Written Quiz contest was held for men and ladies separately. An interesting memory game for students evoked great response. This was followed by games like putting the ball in the basket for nursery/KG kids conducted by Khalifa Dawood. Other games like Lemon and Spoon race were cheered to the hilt. Even men aged above 60 years participated in many activities. Nuhail Damudi and Daniel, supported by Shaihan SM, conducted oral quiz, placard games, Ball Movement in water, complete the poetry couplet, word games, etc which the crowd enjoyed very much. Aftab Kola conducted some interesting 'On The Spot Questions' session. Welcome drink, Fabulous lunch and evening snacks were provided. The spirit of camaraderie and brotherhood was clearly visible. While men and children enjoyed all the events in the open air with shaded trees next to the river the ladies had their own sessions and games inside the two big halls. A total of 275 people participated in the exciting event. BJM executive members Ansar Musba (vice-president), Abdulla Musba (treasurer), Sada Hasan Bapa, Mohammed Husain Kharuri, Khalifa Dawood, Tayyab Aliakbara, SM Sawood, Sameer Kashimji and Ashraf Sada were present on the occasion.
