99.89 pc pass CBSE Class X in Karnataka

Karnataka has registered an exceptional pass percentage of 99.89 in the Class X examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the results of which were declared late on Monday.  The pass percentage of girls is 99.97 per cent, while for boys it is 99.84 per cent. As many as 26,596 students registered for the exam from the state and all of them appeared for it. Of them, 26,568 students passed the exam. The remaining 28 candidates will get a chance to improve their performance. The CBSE gives an option to choose the school based exam instead of the boards. However, not many students exercised the option. A total of 4,881 students have opted for school-based exam, while 21,715 appeared for the board exam. Of the 1,23,279 students who appeared for the exams from the Chennai region, comprising Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Daman and Diu, 1,22,912 have passed the examination. In the region, Puducherry registered the highest pass percentage of 100 per cent, followed by Tamil Nadu (99.94), Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka (all 99.89), Goa, (99.86), Daman and Diu (99.13) and Andaman and Nicobar Islands (97.79). Girls surpassed boys in all the states and Union Territories in the region. In Puducherry, Goa and Daman and Diu, girl students registered 100 per cent pass percentage. The overall pass percentage for this year was 99.70, an increase of around 0.7 per cent compared to the previous year.
