8kg heroin, currency notes seized in Gurdaspur

Gurdaspur: Around eight kg of heroin was seized in a joint operation by Punjab police and Border Security Force (BSF) in the Thakurpur border outpost area under Gurdaspur sector.
“We recovered eight packets (7.830 kg) of heroin near the border fence,” Gurdaspur Superintendent of Police (D) Harpal Singh said.
The seizure was made following information by Punjab police, the SP said, adding we involved the BSF to make the recovery of the contraband near the fence.
Besides heroin, Indian currency notes of Rs 500 (five notes of Rs 100 denomination) was also recovered, a BSF official said.
With this seizure, a total of 84.506 kg of heroin has been seized in Punjab this year by the BSF.
