82-year-old man heading for Fajr prayers after Sehri dies in accident on NH-66 in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: An elderly man on his way to offer early morning Fajr prayers after Sehri died following a scooter accident near Navayath Colony on National Highway-66 in Bhatkal on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as 82-year-old Nisar Ali Data.

According to local sources, Nisar Ali had left his residence near Muzammil Masjid and was travelling towards Usmania Masjid to offer the Fajr namaz when the accident occurred.

The incident reportedly happened when he tried to cross the highway. At that moment, another scooter moving along the highway collided with his vehicle. The impact threw the elderly man onto the road, causing him to suffer a serious head injury.

He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead.

Residents said the stretch of National Highway-66 near Navayath Colony does not have streetlights, leading to poor visibility in the early morning hours. Locals added that accidents have been reported at the spot earlier as well.
