6,000 expats work in public sector

RIYADH: The Ministry of Civil Service has said that there are approximately 6,000 expatriates currently working in government jobs, including the education, health and computer technology (IT) sectors.
The ministry used this occasions to reconfirm its commitment to emphasize the employment of citizens in government positions first, in addition to affirming their efforts to regularly visit government apparatuses to inspect the working conditions provided for expatriates and to update their personal information in the ministry's database.
The ministry added that it works hard to provide opportunities for the special skills of non-Saudis, which are often not found among Saudis.
The ministry also noted that it had terminated, for various reasons, a number contracts of expatriates who had spent more than 10 years in service of the Kingdom.
