5 Powerlifters Killed In Accident Near Delhi Including World Champion Saksham Yadav

In a tragic development, powerlifting world champion Saksham Yadav lost his life on Sunday after succumbing to injuries received in a road accident earlier in the day at Sindhu border in Delhi, reports ANI. Yadav was admitted to Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, in northwest Delhi. Earlier in the day, a hospital source informed PTI, “He came to the emergency department where he was administered first-aid and stabilised. He apparently was later taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre.” A senior doctor at the AIIMS trauma said that Yadav’s condition was extremely critical. He had one head injuries and severe internal bleeding. Saksham Yadav, who got seriously injured in a car crash today is a powerlifter who won a gold medal for India at powerlifting world championship held in Moscow in December 2017. Saksham had also won a gold medal in the junior category in 2016. He is a resident of Nangloi in north Delhi. As per Saksham’s Facebook profile, his nickname is Aryan. The languages he knows are Hindi and Haryanvi (the dialect of people of state of Haryana). Tragically, four of Saksham’s comrades had also died in the crash. All four weight-lifters were killed in the accident on Delhi-Panipat National Highway-1. Saksham Yadav was seriously injured along with another weightlifter, a police official had said.
