5 killed, 3 critically injured in fiery crash in Yellapur

March 06, 2016 | Correspondent | Bhatkallys News Yellapur: In a tragic crash, five persons including three women were killed and three persons were critically injured in a fatal crash that took place between a bus and a Maruti Omni car at Yellapur National Highway, around 125 km from Bhatkal, in the wee hours of Sunday morning. A source informed that the bus first rammed into a motorcycle before crashing onto the car, killing the motorcyclist and four persons in the car on the spot. The accident took place at around 3.45 am at Gollapur National Highway in Yellapur when the bus was heading towards Gokak from Mangaluru and the car was heading towards Dharmastala from Hilyal. The victims were identified as Dev Jadhav (35), Shashi Kala (42), Akshata Devma and Shardha while the motorcyclist has not yet been identified. A case has been registered and the bus driver has been taken into police custody.   -ARF
