430 cases booked, Rs. 50,000 fine collected in one day as Bhatkal Police begin crackdown on traffic law violators

Bhatkal 26 June 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal Town Police on Tuesday conducted inspections of vehicles at several places across Bhatkal Taluka and registered about 430 cases against bikers and other vehicles for traffic violations while also collecting about 50,000 penalties during the drive.
On the directions of DySP Valentine D'souza, CPI KL Ganesh and PSI Kusumadhara along with other police personnel were deployed at various places including, Bhatkal Shamsuddin Circle, Jali Cross, PLD Bank, Near Anand Ashram Convent School and other places. The team caught hold of several vehicles of which the majority were bikers and registered about 430 cases in a single day and collected an estimated Rs.50,000/- in penalties.
Rickshaw carrying school students were also inspected and were issued warning for carrying more than the limited numbers of students.
Commenting over the action, CPI KL Ganesh said, "As the number of road accidents are on rise we want to now keep a check on traffic violations in town, we carried this drive to create awareness among the public about safety parameters."
