Larnaca: Except for four foreigners and crew members, all others traveling on a hijacked Egyptian plane have been released at a Cyprus airport after negotiations with at least one hijacker, Egypt Air has claimed.
56 people were on board the Airbus along with seven crew members when a man threatened to detonate a belt of explosives, the captain said, according to Egypt's Civil Aviation Ministry. The Egypt Air plane was flying from the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria to the capital, Cairo when it was hijacked. The Airbus was diverted to Cyprus, where it landed at Larnaca airport on the south coast.
