According to the sources this figure is around 91640.26 ton more than that of last year which was 2,48,930.45 metric tons.

It may be noted that, out of 52 varieties of fish caught in the fishing nets, Bangda fish occupied the major portion.

According to the fishermen, earlier they were getting nearly 132 species of fish in their nets but now the number decreased to 52 varieties only. It shows some species are becoming obsolete from the sea which is a matter of concern. They said.
